DIY handmade filled glass holiday ornaments

Hey guys. Guess what? I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth. Just been busy and trying to enjoy the holidays even though I’ve got next to zero christmas spirit. Call it life, blame it on the numb arm… the dentist… whatevs. BUT the other night I took Christmas by the balls and much like when I bought my computer I decided to make. it. work.

washi tape and ribbon supplies for ornaments

I realized that maybe I had no Christmas spirit because aside from my little DIY banner and homemade cookies for the 2R Christmas party, I hadn’t hand-made anything this year. No wonder!!!! A holiday isn’t full of joy until you’ve burned off a couple of layers of skin with hot glue and had a proper all nighter last-minute craft-a-thon while the hand-holding-man-friend just begs you to put down the glitter pipe cleaners  and washi tape and go to bed.

handmade personalized decorated card envelopes

I couldn’t be stopped, I got it in my head not to be a total Scrooge and at least give out holiday cards to the wonderful staff of ladies & gents and a few co-workers that I get along with. Then I got a good deal on some of those clear glass ornaments, and decided that would be just right. A card with a heartfelt message, in an envelope decorated with washi tape & ribbon, and a semi-homemade bauble. Done & done.

This isn’t a DIY tutorial, I didn’t blow the lid off the Christmas gift world. These ornaments are all over the Internets right now so if you’re dying to be shown a step by step, ask Google. I just wanted to say “hey, look what I did.” It felt right to make something with my hands and give a little joy to the office folks. Bonus points for using up a bunch of my hoarded craft supplies and ribbons and odds and ends. Total cost? Twelve ornaments, eight bucks. Twelve cards, ten bucks. Stuffed with craft scraps and love, priceless!

Happy Holidays Internetz!

handmade ornaments include hanukkah colors

P.S. I also made a few in “man colors” for the three guys in the office. AND in non-denominational “holiday” colors to include our Jewish Hanukkah friends. Boom. Including everyone!
