How to throw a great party

I have one rule for hosting a great party. Take your house that looks something like this…

bright balloons and streamers for party decorations

FILL WITH FRIENDS.

That’s it. Just invite great friends. That doesn’t even mean a million friends, just a few like-minded folks who enjoy getting together and eating and drinking and yakking and playing. Having a great time is not a popularity contest with a head count. Every party the ‘Rooms and I throw we’re always riddled with anxiety that no one will be able show up, no matter how many RSVP’s we have to the Facebook invite. And it’s always OK, because we know that even if no one can make it, Sophie and Otto and us will ALWAYS have a good time. I mean, there’s cocktails.

Yes, you can make a Pinterest board full of ideas and maybe you’ll actually make some of those things (orange slice jello shots I’m looking at you). And you might even throw up some balloons and streamers and most definitely buy themed paper plates and napkins. But having a great freaking time with all of the crazy people you have in your life will always (hopefully) be the number one takeaway that folks remember when the day has come and gone. Happy summer parties everyone, who’s hosting next?

Do I spot a lil Mealor in there? Love it. Hope I can make it one of these days.

Is that a water balloon toss I spy?! And citrus colored decorations?! Seriously, Queens should hire you as the borough’s official party planner! Although I’m sure you’d miss the sandals and socks of the UWS;-)
