Neon lovers: Not so anonymous

in Play, Shop

Hi, my name is Beckie and I’m addicted to neon. See previous dalliances with the housewares, and the hanging herb garden. Proceed with caution.

addicted to neon nail polish and new lip balm

Wanted to share a few goodies I picked up last week as I was wandering around Ricky’s over lunch. It’s been hot and miserable and sometimes you just have to treat yourself to something nice instead of eat. Nail polish is my Starbucks.

1. Res-Q Ointment from Burt’s Bees. I actually picked this up because I remembered Anna from Doorsixteen mention it over on Twitter the other day as a good eye cream. Hey, I’ll try anything once if it’ll make me look young and fresh. I’ll let you know if I start looking nineteen again. And yes, I have a tremendous affinity for remembering random shit I read on the Internet, its a gift/curse? Six bucks.

2. Essie nail polish in haute as hello. I’ve been an OPI girl forever and ever because of the quality, but I love the color variance of Essie polishes. They do some more young and fresh stuff, so sticking with my nineteen again theme I’ve been trying a few out. The color you want can be hard to find, all the good stuff is often sold out so if you see this one snatch it up. Their website describes it as a “racy, scorching coral” which is 100% accurate. Fair warning, these pastels and brights take a good solid 3-4 coats to look right, so plan your time accordingly. DON’T be like me and slap on some polish and walk out the door with your toes still wet. Eight bucks.

3. Mattese Elite nail polish in neon caution. Hold up, seriously neon, but also mostly garbage. I know that this brand is the bottom shelf of polishes and nail polish really is one of those things that you get what you pay for. But well, the little mini was .99 so I figured it couldn’t be THAT bad. This stuff was seriously awful, it took about 7,000 coats to get any kind of even coverage. However, if you’re only doing one nail I guess that’s not so bad. I haven’t taken it off yet, so no word on the nail staining factor, which I’m sure is significant. One buck.

neon shoes and socks, all neon all the time

In other news, I went to go for a run and was doing my stretches, i.e. lackadaisically attempting to touch my toes, when there it was staring me in the face. My sly neon hoarding over the past few months all in one place. At the same time it might be a little too Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but I tend to not give three sheets before I’ve had a sufficient amount of coffee. Plus, I’m jogging, leave me alone k?

How about you? Are you neon’d out? Are you just coming around? Buy anything fun and cheap lately? Have a good eye cream? Basically, it’s Monday, let’s have a comments free for all!

I absolutely love neons too! Especially mixing them with a pastel color like you did! I did a really cool neon/pastel look on my blog; I used neon pink as a base and then did a half moon with mint green over it! It was very different but it caught everyone’s eye!

Yes. Awesome Olivia! I think fun nails might be the way to go with these. A whole hand is an awful lot.
